KONNAH SAS

Graphic Designer

My name is Konnah Sas and I am an artist / designer from Waihi in Aotearoa New Zealand. In my life as an artist I really value quality. In a world where AI can generate “art” in a mere moment, I believe in, and value, artists and designers that take care of the work they put out and I consider myself one of them.

My main passions in life include Art and Sports. A lot of stuff I have created up until this time in my life has been done by hand and to me, nothing compares to putting a pencil or pen to paper. Something else I enjoy is taking these physical works of art and digitalising them to take the whole process that one step further, I think it’s important as designers to push ourselves so we can innovate and create new ideas to build from in the future.

As I said before I use old-fashioned pen and paper a lot, but when it comes to the digital realm, I rely on the three main Adobe apps: Photoshop, Illustrator & Indesign. I believe that through hours upon hours of practice in my schooling years, from highschool to university, I am on track to becoming an expert at using these programmes. Additionally, I am always on the lookout for inspiration from other artists on platforms like Instagram, Pinterest & Behance. Finding other artists that produce similar work to you is an invaluable tool that all artists of all kinds should be utilising to draw inspiration and provoke creativity.

One of my proudest achievements as an artist thus far in my life was when I was doing paid commission work for local people around the town. Although the work I created wasn’t my finest (as I have evolved since then), I was still doing illustrations for money which I think was a really important step in my artistic journey.

Below are a selection of my projects, three of which were completed throughout my time in university. The other (Steinlager) is ongoing. I believe that these four collections best reflect my work as a Graphic Designer thus far in my budding career.
